Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 10, 2026

JawTrace is an iPhone app for recording likely grinding-like sounds during sleep, reviewing short local clips, tracking morning jaw symptoms, and preparing observations for a dentist conversation. This policy explains what the app accesses, what it stores, and what it does not collect.

Microphone access

JawTrace uses the microphone only when you start an overnight recording session. The app analyzes audio on device to find candidate sound events. Raw overnight audio is not retained by default after event extraction.

Saved clips and event data

JawTrace may save short event clips, timestamps, confidence buckets, sound classifications, and feature metadata so you can review likely grinding-like sounds in the morning. Saved clips stay on your device unless you choose to export or share them.

Symptom notes

JawTrace can store your morning check-ins, including jaw soreness, headache, tooth sensitivity, sleep quality, night guard use, and notes. This information is stored locally on your device.

Reports and exports

If you create a dentist-ready report, the report is generated from local event data and symptom check-ins you enter. Audio clips are not added to the PDF automatically. You control whether to share the report outside the app.

No accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking

JawTrace does not require an account and does not include advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or third-party tracking systems. Cognerva does not collect your bedroom audio, symptom notes, or reports through the app.

Medical boundary

JawTrace is a screening and tracking tool. It records likely grinding-like sounds and cannot diagnose bruxism, silent clenching, TMJ disorder, sleep apnea, or any medical condition.
